Dr. Irene Bellini is a Transplant Surgeon in Belfast City Hospital. She graduated from the University of Tor Vergata in Rome (IT) in 2007, where she also achieved a certificate of completion of training in 2014 and a research doctorate in 2015. She moved to the UK in 2013, to complete her Ph.D. in Oxford and undertake further subspecialty training. During this time, she developed an interest in organ perfusion devices and she moved to hold the responsibility for the machine perfusion clinical program at Imperial College London, for which she actively conducted grant-funded translational research.
In 2017, she was awarded a scholarship to visit the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam (NE). Ms. Bellini is a Board Member of the Vanguard Committee of the European Fellows in Transplant Surgery, Board Member of EKITA (European Kidney Transplant Association), a Committee within ESOT (European Society Organ Transplantation), Board member of the ESOT Education Committee and Lead for the Education Transplant live e-platform. She is also an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Lead for the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) Women in Surgery Section.

Dr. Lluis Blanch is a Senior Intensivist and Consultant at the Critical Care Centre of Hospital de Sabadell in Spain. He is the Research and Innovation Director of the Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí and Director of the University Institute Fundació Parc Taulí at Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Blanch’s research interests involve translational research on acute lung and brain injury and innovation projects on on-line monitoring of critically ill patients. He has more than 160 PubMed indexed publications. Dr. Blanch’s factor H citation index is 28.
He has been a member of the Executive Committee of The European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, President of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Society of Critical Care and President of the Catalan Critical Care Society and the Spanish Society of Critical Care. Dr. Blanch is a member of the board of several journals and reviewer of the top first quartile journals in the respiratory and critical care fields.

Dr. Deepak Sharma is chief of Neuroanesthesia & Perioperative Neuroscience at UW Medicine. Dr. Sharma is also UW’s Virginia & Prentice Bloedel Endowed Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and a professor of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Sharma is an expert in anesthesia for intracranial and spine surgery as well as interventional neuroradiology. Dr. Sharma strives to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care with a focus on patient safety. He creates active partnerships with his patients to achieve the best possible outcomes. Dr. Sharma received his medical education in India.
His clinical interests include neuroanesthesiology, perioperative neurosciences, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. His research interests include traumatic brain injury, stroke, transcranial Doppler ultrasonography, cerebrovascular reactivity, and education in anesthesiology. He serves on the board of directors of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology & Critical Care and multiple national committees for Neuroanesthesia.

Dr. Alison Fox-Robichaud is a Professor of Medicine at McMaster University and an Intensivist and Director of Medical Education at Hamilton Health Sciences. She received an Honours BSc from Biology and Chemistry from the University of New Brunswick and her MSc in Medical Sciences at McMaster University. She completed her MD at the University of Ottawa followed by Internal Medicine, Critical Care, and Postdoctoral training at the University of Calgary. She returned to McMaster as faculty in 2000. Her research interests include the pathophysiology of sepsis and how evidence is transferred into clinical care. She holds CHRP funding for the development of a point of care device for the detection of cell free DNA. She is the Scientific Director of the recently CHIR-funded Canadian Sepsis Research Network; Sepsis Canada is a research collaborative of 190 scientists, knowledge users, patients, and family partners. She is past president of the Canadian Critical Care Society and inaugural president of the Canadian Sepsis Foundation, her more than 95 peer-reviewed publications reflect a broad engagement in academic medicine. She is an executive member of the Canadian Critical Care Translational Biology Group and members of the board of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group and the Global Sepsis Alliance. In 2015, she received a Leading Practice Award from Accreditation Canada for the integration of an electronic early warning score into the medical record. In 2018, the Global Sepsis Alliance awarded her an individual award for her sepsis leadership.

Dr. Sangeeta Mehta is a Critical Care Physician at Mount Sinai Hospital. She completed medical school at McGill University in Montreal, Internal Medicine training at the University of Toronto, and Respirology and Critical Care training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, and a Clinician Scientist in the Division of Respirology and Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care, at the University of Toronto; and Clinician Scientist in the Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute. She has over 240 peer-review publications.
She is the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Chair for the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group (CCCTG). Dr. Mehta’s primary research focus is on the administration of sedation and analgesia, delirium, and restraint use in mechanically ventilated, critically ill patients; as well as sleep, psychological and cognitive morbidity following discharge from the ICU. She is also interested in the perspectives of family members of ICU patients. Most recently she has become very passionate about gender equity in critical care medicine.

Dr. Hana Nobleza is currently the Medical Director of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the fellowship director of the Neurocritical Care fellowship program. She completed her medical training in UERMMMC in the Philippines and proceeded to do her residency in Neurology at the University of Connecticut and Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
She was awarded the University of Mississippi Medical Center Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) Innovation award in 2020. She leads the Women in Neurocritical Care section mentorship program. She is currently the faculty advisor for the Student Interest Group in Neurology. Her passion is mentorship, collaboration, and building a pipeline of women Neurologists and Neurocritical care specialists to improve inclusion and diversity in these fields.

Dr. Paolo Pelosi is currently Chief Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine and Director of the Specialty School in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the University of Genoa, as well as Head of the Anesthesia and Intensive Care at IRCCS San Martino-IST Hospital in Genoa, Italy. He grew up in Milan and attended the University of Milan, graduating magna cum laude in Medicine and Surgery. After graduation, he completed his studies first as Specialist in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and then as Research Fellow in Anaesthesiology at the University of Milan. He served as Associate Professor in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Insubria, Varese, from 1999 to 2010.
His activity has always been directed both to the clinical and research field. He is also experienced in meta-analysis and leading of large prospective RCTs as well as observational trials. He is actively involved in the Fellowship and Resident educational program at the University of Genoa. He served as President of the European Society of Anaesthesiology ESA (2010-2011) and first as Secretary and then as Head of the Respiratory Intensive Care Assembly 2 at the European Respiratory Society. He is a member of the board of International Meetings’ Organizing Committees. He was Editor and/or Co-Editor of several books and scientific issues.
Dr. Francesca Rubulotta is a Consultant and Senior Clinical Lecturer in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospital, NHS Trust, and at Imperial College Medical School in London, UK. She obtained her MD with laude and commendation at the University of Catania, Italy. In 2002, Dr. Rubulotta gained accreditation in Anesthesia at the University of Trieste in Italy and later in 2004, she obtained her specialty in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. Her training in ICM took place in the USA, the Netherlands, and Belgium. In 2012, she obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Catania, Italy. In 2018, she obtained a Master in Business Administration (MBA) at Imperial College London, UK. Dr. Rubulotta was the Chair of the division of professional development (DPD) of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) and the Chair of the CoBaTrICE project. Dr. Rubulotta is the chair of the committee of Medical Managers (CMM) of the British Medical Association (BMA). Dr. Rubulotta is a member of the European Board of Intensive Care Medicine (EBICM) and a member of the European Accreditation Board for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) in the Union of European Medical Specialities (UEMS), a member of the Governance Board of the EACCME, and a new member of the UEMS school of examiners. Dr. Rubulotta is in the Editorial board of ICU management and practice and she is a reviewer for several journals. Dr. Rubulotta is a founding member of the International Society for Rapid Response Systems and part of two Consensus Conferences of rapid response systems. Dr. Rubulotta is the interim chair of the International Women in Intensive and Critical Care Network (iWIN). An avid researcher, Dr. Rubulotta has published papers, abstracts, chapters, and reviews, mainly on education, sepsis, rapid response systems, leadership, and ethics. Dr. Rubulotta has recently developed an interest in value creation in health care and has been consulting companies including Phillips and Medtronic. She is working with the London in vitro Diagnostics Co-Operative (London IVD, http://london.ivd.nihr.ac.uk/industry-innovators/)
Dr. Aarti Sarwal is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Wake Forest School of Medicine and the Medical Director and Section Chief of Neurocritical Care at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She completed residency at University of Missouri and her fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. She is an expert in ultrasound and has served as faculty and course director for numerous international societies (e.g. Neurocritical Care Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and American Thoracic Society).
She was an organizing Co-Chair for the 6th World Congress for Ultrasound in Medical Education and serves as an ultrasound expert for clinical research trials. Dr. Sarwal also serves as the Social Media Editor for the Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care journals.

Dr. Janice L. Zimmerman is currently President of the World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care. She completed her medical training, residency in Internal Medicine, and fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Zimmerman is an Adjunct Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and previously Head of the Critical Care Division for the Department of Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital. She was Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and the Institute of Academic Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital and Texas A & M College of Medicine. She is a Master of the American College of Physicians and Society of Critical Care Medicine. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from SCCM in 2001 and 2013, the Joseph and Rae Brown Award in 2015, and the Safar Global Partner Award in 2017. She is a current and continuing member of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines Committee since its inception and serves as a liaison to the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science Committee. She was one of the originators of the Fundamental Critical Care Support course for SCCM. She regularly teaches at regional, national, and international critical care meetings and board review courses and publishes peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
