This open-source blog was created to give a voice to the experiences of women working in intensive and critical care medicine around the world. While it is the brainchild of the International Women in Intensive and Critical Care Network (iWIN) Executive Planning Committee, we invite anyone with a story to share to submit a post for consideration–including our male allies who have joined our march for equality. We anticipate the blog posts will be as individual as you. There are no length or formatting requirements, but photos are encouraged. We do ask that the subject matter somehow relates to intensive/critical care medicine, women in medicine, work-life balance, wellness, navigating COVID-19, proud accomplishments, or highlighting pet projects. If you have an outside-the-box idea–please reach out. Please ensure that your submissions have been thoroughly proofread and are essentially “ready to be published” upon submission.

Meet Our Moderators

Marin Darsie, MD

My name is Marin Darsie. I am an emergency medicine and neurocritical care physician practicing in Wisconsin. I completed both my emergency medicine residency and neurocritical care fellowship at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. This somewhat unusual path to neurocritical care and hunger for more resources aimed at trainees led me to become co-editor-in-chief of The Pocket Guide to Neurocritical Care. I currently serve on the Executive Planning Committee for the inaugural iWIN Conference which has been tentatively rescheduled for June 2021. Outside of work, I stay busy chasing after two kids and juggling the demands of a two-physician household.
